How to reset the Hub admin password

Complete the following step to reset the Home Hub admin password

  • Locate the small reset button on the side of the Home Hub
  • Press and hold the button for 5 seconds
  • The Home Hub admin password will reset to keepmesafe

Logon to the Home Hub admin page and change the password to something more secure than the default

Note: Do not hold the reset button in for more than 5 seconds as this will reset all settings!

How to clone a MAC address

Cloning a MAC address allows the CyberShield Hub to appear on a network as though it's another device.

Configuring MAC clone on the CyberShield Hub

  1. Connect to the CyberShield Hub WiFi network or LAN port with the device you want to clone
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://myhub.local or http://192.168.8.1 
  3. Enter the 'Hub admin' password (this can be found on the password card supplied with your Hub)
  4. Click WAN Setting (globe image) from the left menu and select 'Clone MAC'

  5. Check the MAC address is the one you wan to clone and then click Clone > Apply
  6. To restore back to the original CyberShield HUB MAC address click Restore > Apply

How to configure a WiFi extender

The CyberShield Hub can be configured as a WiFi extender for your wireless network

  1. Connect to the CyberShield Hub WiFi network or LAN port
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://myhub.local or http://192.168.8.1 
  3. Enter the 'Hub admin' password (this can be found on the password card supplied with your Hub)
  4. Go to the Internet Setting page (click globe icon)

  5. Click New Connection
  6. Select the Repeater tab
  7. Select WISP from the Mode drop down menu

  8. Wait a few seconds for the SSID box to list available wireless networks and select the required WiFi network
  9. Enter the password for the WiFi network and click Submit

    The CyberShield Hub now connects to the internet using WiFi instead of a network cable. Which means the Hub can be located at the perimeter of the WiFi network and broadcast the CyberShield WiFi to locations that were previously out of range of WiFi.

How to setup a VPN

The CyberShield Hub is VPN ready, meaning that you can use 3rd party Open VPN services, such as HMA

Using a VPN secures and anonymises your internet connection. It also allows access to content that is usually restricted e.g. access US Netflix from an internet device in the UK

Setting up a VPN on the CyberShield Hub

  1. Connect to the CyberShield Hub WiFi network or LAN port
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://myhub.local or http://192.168.8.1 
  3. Enter the 'Hub admin' password (this can be found on the password card supplied with your Hub)
  4. Click 'VPN' from the top menu and select 'Open VPN'

  5. Click 'Upload New' and select the configuration file (This file is often called the OVPN file and can be download from your VPN provider)
  6. If prompted, enter your VPN account username and password (this is supplied by your VPN provider)
  7. Select the VPN configuration file you want to use from the dropdown list
  8. Put a tick in the box next to 'Enable and Press 'Apply'.
    Note: Alternatively use the small physical slider switch on the Hub to enable or disable the VPN selected in the dropdown list
  9. The VPN can take up to a minute to connect. Once connected the middle light on the Hub will turn on

Please note, if you are using a free VPN service the connection may regularly drop and severely limit your bandwidth.

CyberShield strongly recommends a reputable paid VPN service!

 

 

Most subscription account management can be managed from the CyberShield subscriptions portal https://subscriptions.cyber-shield.co.uk

Things you can do from the subscription portal:

  • View invoice history
  • Change \ update payment menthods
  • Cancel subscriptions
  • Update account details
  • Change portal password

Change Payment Method

Logon to the CyberShield subscriptions portal https://subscriptions.cyber-shield.co.uk

Click 'Home' on the left side menu, scroll down to 'Card Details' at the bottom of the page and select 'Edit'

How to setup WISP to connect to the internet

The CyberShield Hub has a wireless feature called WISP which allows the Hub to connect to other WiFi networks, usually to obtain internet access.
This feature can be useful if you do not want to connect the Hub to your internet router using a network cable.

  1. Connect to the CyberShield Hub WiFi network or LAN port
  2. Open a web browser and go to http://myhub.local or http://192.168.8.1
  3. Enter the 'Hub admin' password (this can be found on the password card supplied with your Hub)
  4. Go to the Internet Setting page (click globe icon)

  • Configure any browser plugins or security software to not block images
  • Install Java on your computer

Portal username \ password are not working

  • The Portal username and password are both case sensitive
  • Make sure you are accessing the portal using http://portal.cyber-shield.co.uk/admin
  • Try using a different web browser to connect to the portal
  • If you use a password manager, temporarily disable it and try logging on to the portal
